Cakes

Cakes are always fun to bake and easy to make! Similar to that of cupcakes, the basic ingredients of the batter for both have the tendency to be similar. Also, this similarity can be seen from Cake Mixes which usually require similar ingredients for cakes and cupcakes. One of the interesting thing about cakes to me, is that you can add more layers of cake which can allow you to change the shape of the cake. Of course like everything else, this takes practice to perfect. But it is always possible and never to late to learn. I am yet to master the art of creating different shaped cakes and the art of frosting a cake with different styles of star tips.

Research shows that round cakes with icing, were first baked in Europe during the mid-17th century. Now we thankfully have advanced technologies which added accessibility and availability of more reliable ovens and refined sugar. Cake pans were sometimes used from since the early days. The first icings were usually a boiled mixture of the finest available sugar, egg whites and [sometimes] flavorings. It was not until the middle of the 19th century that cake is made with extra refined white flour and baking powder instead of yeast.
